In 1954 — for the first time in history — Roger Bannister ran the mile in an impossible less than 4 minutes. Others followed shortly. What happened?
Just two months later John Landy repeated the feat. Several others followed.
What happened ? It was not their body that changed, it was their mind and what they though: suddenly the impossible became possible. Now is considered a standard performance.
“The physical aspect of the sport can only take you so far. The mental aspect has to kick in, especially when you’re talking about the best of the best. In the Olympic Games, everyone is talented. Everyone trains hard. Everyone does the work. What separates the gold medallists from the silver medallists is simply the mental game.”

And that mental game is more widely known as “flow”. Flow is a mental state that combines:
- focus with clarity and energy
- enjoyment in the process, motivation
- dissociation from other external, distracting factors
The FIRST step towards achievement — getting the results you want — is FLOW.
Note also that I use the word “result”, not “success”. Results are facts while “success” is a value judgement, a label, applied to a fact.
Flow was studied by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi in his book “Flow”.
“If you are interested in something, you will focus on it, and if you focus attention on anything, it is likely that you will become interested in it. Many of the things we find interesting are not so by nature, but because we took the trouble of paying attention to them.”

It is the same with all areas of your life: money, life, relationships, study, sport. How you think will determine your results. The “Law of Attraction” got not one but TWO things wrong. Find the real solution to achievement in this article: “What You Think Is What You Get (hint: You cannot outperform your beliefs)”.
